House North

House North is a design to renovate and reinvigorate an existing inn from 1936 into a contemporary urban retreat on a 68-acre property in Upstate New York. The updated main lodge includes a restaurant, spa, lounge, gym, with trails and campsites around the property. As the main public space and social hub for House North, we designed a light-filled and welcoming double-height entrance incorporating an assemblage of materials to create a dynamic series of interior spaces where people can meet up, or simply relax and read a book.

The landscape design encourages guests to connect with the outdoors by bringing a feeling of wild nature to the doorstep  of the buildings. Spaces were designed into the landscape to provide experiences, like shared meals, or simple moments for quiet reflection.
