Storm King Rest Stations

A series of permanent restrooms were proposed for a sculpture park just outside of New York City to replace the clusters of portable toilets located around the park. Using durable and subdued materials like weathering steel and wood, the design works in harmony with the natural landscape and works of art to enhance visitors’ experience of the park. “Off-the-grid” features such as rainwater collection and composting toilets could also be incorporated to make the structures more affordable and sustainable.
